The Straus-Amiel Rabbi Emanuel Rackman Program
For Practical Rabbinics
The Joseph and Gwendolyn Straus Rabbinical Seminary is producing a new breed of rabbi who
is as fluent in secular studies as in Jewish law. These modern leaders and
educators receive their practical rabbinic training in the Straus-Amiel program,
where they are given the skills and tools to effectively serve in the
modern, heterogeneous Jewish communities of today’s Diaspora. The highly
motivated participants in the one-year program are talented individuals
between the ages of 25-35, with academic backgrounds in addition to their Halachic
knowledge, fluency in a second language, teaching experience, and a
modern, Zionist outlook. On average, 30 graduates of this program are placed
throughout the world each year. Over 150 Ohr Torah Stone
rabbis and educators - characterized by a dynamic synthesis of Jewish
values, tolerance and kindness - are inspiring and energizing communities
spanning the globe, effectively communicating the Ohr Torah Stone principles
of unity.
